This or That: Pencil, Gel, or Liquid Eyeliner

Your man texted you: “You and me at a fancy restaurant, with a bottle of red wine followed by an evening of dancing. See you in an hour.” IN AN HOUR?! Don’t fret; you have your ever-trusted Little Black Dress. It works every time.

Eyeliner is the LBD of makeup. Looking dead tired? Use this and no one would dare asking you what happened last night. A little effort of lining the waterline can make a difference in the world. I try not to skip this part… no matter how much of in a hurry I am.

Pencil liners are the neophyte’s choice. It’s undeniably the easiest to use, perfect for the waterline and easy to smudge for a sultry smokey eye. On the other hand, gel liners are the go-to tool of people with oily lids. Long-lasting and gives you that liquid liner effect but easier to handle. And then we have the liquid variant, which offers precise and intense lines for dramatic look.

Gel liner wins the game. It has a better staying power than pencil and pretty easy to apply compared to liquid. I actually considered it a fusion of the other two; great for creating whatever line you desire (just adjust the thickness with the brush you use). Plus it is available in large range of colors and can be used as an eye shadow base.

*I still can’t perfect a cat eye… getting there.
